‘Akane’ puts on an amazing display pink reds to oranges in the early spring fading to one of the deepest yellow colors of any maple during the  late spring to summer. During this transition of color Akane will have differing shades of bold yellow highlighted with pink and orange creating a dynamic display of color. A full spectrum of fall colors is reached as the yellow leaves are dashed with bright oranges and reds. This new tree from Japan requires late day shade to filtered light to protect the elegant foliage. Yano s Book for Maples recommends not watering this tree overhead to help prevent fungus on the foliage. This is a tree that should be moved around yard in a container to find the right spot for it before planting, but this tree is well worth any hassle.  If you read about this tree in the book Japanese maples, you will see that the original Akane sold for nearly $10,000 at a flower show due it s amazing spring and fall colors.
